You don't need a business plan. You don't need a content calendar. You don't need to "find your why" or spend three weeks researching niches.
You need a weekend.
I've been doing affiliate marketing for 16 years, and the single biggest mistake I see beginners make is treating the starting line like a research project. They read 47 articles, watch 12 YouTube videos, buy a course, join three Facebook groups — and never actually start.
This is the opposite of that. This is: do these things, in this order, this weekend. By Sunday night, you'll have a live affiliate link in front of real people. Whether you make a sale this weekend or next month depends on your audience and your consistency after this. But you'll be in the game.
Let's go.
Friday Night: Pick Your Product (1-2 Hours)
Skip the niche research rabbit hole. Answer one question: What have you bought in the last 6 months that you'd genuinely recommend to a friend?
That's your starting point.
Now go find something similar on the Digistore24 Marketplace. It's free to join — no application fee, no monthly cost, no minimum sales requirement. You'll have access to thousands of digital products across every category you can think of.
What to look for:
- A product that solves the same problem you solved for yourself
- An Earnings Per Click (EPC) above $1 — that means other affiliates are actually making money with it
- A sales page that looks professional (if you wouldn't buy from it, neither will your audience)
- A product you're pre-approved to promote — thousands of products on Digistore24 give you instant approval, meaning you grab your affiliate link and go. No waiting. (Some products do require vendor approval, which can take up to 48 hours, but for this weekend you want instant access.)
What to do:
- Create your free Digistore24 account
- Browse the marketplace by category or search by keyword
- Find 1-3 products that match your experience — look for the ones marked as instant approval
- Pick the one with the best combination of commission rate and EPC
- Generate your affiliate link
Saturday Morning: Create One Piece of Content (2-3 Hours)
You have a phone. That's all you need.
Pick ONE format:
- A short video (TikTok, Instagram Reel, YouTube Short) — 60-90 seconds answering one question your audience has about the problem your product solves
- A social post (X thread, LinkedIn post, Facebook post) — share your personal experience with the problem and what solved it
- A blog post or email — if you already have a blog or email list, write a quick "here's what worked for me" post
What's the best social platform for affiliate links? Whatever platform you're currently using or know the most about. Don't worry about algorithms. Don't worry about who's buying what where. Think about where you already are and what you already know how to do. This isn't the time to learn a new platform — it's the time to use what you've got.
The content isn't about the product. It's about the problem. Talk about the problem. Share what you tried. Mention what finally worked. Then link to the solution.
Rules:
- Be specific. "I tried meal prepping for a month and failed three times before I found a system that stuck" beats "meal prepping is hard."
- Be honest. Only recommend things you'd actually tell a friend about.
- One piece of content. Not five. Not a content series. One.
Saturday Afternoon: Put Your Link Somewhere People Can Find It (30 Minutes)
Your content points people toward a solution. Now make sure they can actually get there.
- If you made an Instagram Reel: You can now add affiliate product links directly inside the Reel itself — viewers tap to buy without ever leaving your video. This rolled out in 2026 and it's a game-changer. No more "link in bio" friction. (You'll need a professional account with 1,000+ followers. If you're not there yet, use your bio link for now.)
- If you made a TikTok or YouTube Short: Put your affiliate link in your bio and mention it in the video. Use a free link-in-bio tool if you need to house multiple links.
- If you wrote a post: Include the link directly, or put it in the first comment if the platform penalizes external links.
- If you have a blog or email list: Link directly in the post.
That's it. Don't overthink the tech. The goal is: someone sees your content → they want the solution → they can click one link to get there.
Sunday: Do It Again (1-2 Hours)
Make a second piece of content. Different angle, same problem.
Remember — you did this yesterday, and yesterday is as long as it's ever going to take. Today will be a little faster. In a couple of weeks, it'll be downright speedy.
If your first video was "3 things I wish I knew before starting [topic]," your second one might be "The one tool that actually helped me with [problem]." Same audience, same product, different hook.
Most people need to see something multiple times before they act. Your first post plants the seed. Your second post waters it. Consistency after this weekend is what makes it grow.
What You Have By Sunday Night
- A free Digistore24 account
- An affiliate link with a 180-day cookie window
- Two pieces of content live on at least one platform
- A real shot at your first commission
You didn't spend a dollar. You spent a weekend.
What Happens Next
Your first sale might come this week. It might come in 30 days. The variable isn't the system — it's how consistently you keep showing up after this weekend.
Here's what I'd do in Week 2:
- Post 3-5 more pieces of content (same problem, different angles)
- Pay attention to which post gets the most engagement — do more of that
- Start building an email list (even a simple one) so you own your audience instead of renting it from an algorithm
When you're ready to learn more, Launch Pad is $10/month and I co-teach it with Rachel Miller. It covers everything from finding your first product to building a real content strategy. But you don't need it to start. You need it to scale.
The Only Thing That Stops This From Working
Not starting
Every successful affiliate I know — including me — started with one product, one piece of content, and zero guarantees. The difference between people who make money with this and people who don't isn't talent or luck. It's whether they actually did the thing or just read about doing the thing.
You have a weekend. Use it.
